A Thrifty Terrarium

007

This was so super easy, yet very satisfying.  I kept thinking in fact that it was so easy that I must be doing something wrong.  I was sure that my plant would die....quickly.

I am happy to report that it has been over a month and it is still going strong.  I like the way that this came together so well that I would like to make many more and perhaps giveaway some as gifts.

015

I started with this jar that I picked up at the thrift store for $2.99 at Christmas time, it was filled with very nice vintage glass ornaments.  It is a fairly large jar about 12 inches tall.

016

I added rocks, activated charcoal, and potting soil.  I then added some moss that was for terrarium and a plat that I had rooted from a clipping.

017  018

I then added a little shell and a small Eifel Tower that I got in a bag of stuff at a yard sale last year.

008

I then added a tassel that I picked up on clearance for .97 cents at Jo-Ann's.

Have you ever created something you were sure was not going to work only to have it come out so caute!!!!

  1. Hi Michelle, I love your terrarium project; you made something so beautiful, yet inexpensively. Love the shell and tower inside it. I will have to try one soon. I did one long ago, way back when...
Thank you for visiting and leaving your kind comment on my "Toot Your Horn Tuesday" bird nest/jar project. You definitely should make three of anything, and be sure that the first one is for you. We deserve pretty things too! Have a great evening.
